Mundus imaginabilis (1617)

7. Robert Fludd

The ‘mundus imaginabilis’ is the world of imagination. You’ll find the same four elements in its concentric rings, but now they are connected with the word ‘umbra’, which means ‘shadow’ in Latin. This is where we form impressions based on the information we receive through our five senses. This is also the area where we can imagine the past, the present and the future, and where the first glimmers of creative and artistic ideas are formed.
