Jake Baddeley's “Elements” Series is currently on display in our garden house until June 17th.
Drawing from his fascination with the ancient knowledge of the elements, he has poured his discoveries into each one of the oil paintings. Aspects of the six elements that can be found across many cultures have been made visible and tangible in one richly layered image.
He hopes to bring back to life the pieces of a carefully arranged puzzle, constructed thousands of years ago, and thereby reveal its ever-present significance.
Jake Baddeley is a British-born symbolist artist, skilled in various media like oil paint, ink, and metal. He is a musician, writes poems, lyrics and books, and is the creator of the Baddeley Tarot. The inspiration for the content of Jake’s work pours in from many sources: mythology, alchemy, Jungian psychology, iconography and philosophy, as well as the Ancient Greeks, the Dutch, and Italian Renaissance Masters. But most of all, he relies on his own subconscious, dreams and intuition, which have proven many times, to have a logic and curious independence of their own.
You could say that his work is classical yet contemporary and an evocative mix of the surreal, mystical, and profound.
